The client has a masterplan for the site, however, in the meantime, the building required an upgrade.

The original building had multibed "wards" with shared bathrooms.

With the client's direction we redesigned each ward to reduce bed number by 25%, thereby improving the amenity of each resident.  Each bed received its own private area with built-in joinery.  The focus was to enhance privacy and lighting. Each bedroom was designed with multiple light sources including: ambient, skirting, wardrobe, reading and wall washing. This flexibility in lighting is important to maximise the usability and comfort of the resident's person space.
